As principal of the firm, Joan coordinates project programming, and develops conceptual plans and construction details. Whether it is an intimate formal garden or a landscape master plan for a 150 acre conference center, each Albiston Associates design reflects Joan's creativity, devotion to detail, extensive experience, and genuine attentiveness to clients' needs and desires. Joan has been a guest lecturer for the local chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society and the National Garden Club, and has conducted workshops on designing with natives for the Wintergreen Nature Foundation.
Joan founded Albiston Associates in 1987 after gaining experience at respected Charlottesville, VA and Charlotte, NC firms. She holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Virginia Tech and has been registered to practice in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. |

JESSICA
PRIMM, Designer and Project Manager

Jessica serves as designer and project manager for the firm. Her responsibilities include site design development and detailed planting design. As project manager, Jessica creates final construction documents and provides bid coordination and construction administration. With Jessica's experience in design and project supervision for landscape design/build firms and on-site landscape planning and management for an internationally acclaimed local country inn, she addresses the challenges of project estimation and construction with calm and focus, contributing to numerous projects built on time and within budget. Jessica's commitment to low impact development (LID) is demonstrated through her volunteer community efforts in the development of local LID projects.
Jessica holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Virginia Tech, and has completed additional coursework in Horticulture and Plant Botany.
